1992年毕业于南京大学地球科学系,1997年在中国科学院寒区旱区环境与工程研究所(原中国科学院兰州冰川冻土研究所)获理学博士学位。自1993年以来先后组织(或参加)30余次南极、北极和青藏高原野外考察;自1997年以来先后赴美国、法国、韩国等做博士后、工作及合作访问等。2008年获国家杰出青年科学基金,曾先后主持国家自然科学基金重点项目1项、自由申请项目4项、以及中国科学院百人计划(引进国外杰出人才)项目等。已发表论文100余篇,其中SCI收录论文80篇。在雪冰现代环境过程、青藏高原冰芯记录和南极冰川学等方面取得较好的研究结果。
